Meet the Staff - April 2023

Each month, we will be highlighting different members of our staff so you can get to know us. This month, we'll introduce you to Margaret and Jolene. Margaret floats between Ida Rupp and Marblehead. She does a great job with displays at both branches as well. Jolene works at Ida Rupp. She is always ready to help at the desk and keeps our magazines and newspapers looking good!

Margaret

I am a local, born and raised in Lakeside. I have the privilege of working at Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library and Ida Rupp Public Library. I love to read cozy mysteries and watch Big Brother during the summer. I am currently reading the Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries Books by Angie Fox and I am on Southern Bred and Dead. One of my favorite movies is "A Bundle of Joy" with Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. If I have to pick a favorite author and series it will have to be the In Death series by J.D. Robb. The interactions between the characters in this series makes me laugh. Any book that makes me laugh I will re-read again. That was a hard choice because I really love the Cat in the Stack series by Miranda James too. My favorite quote is from a movie...."Okay, so? She's a dog." It makes me laugh every time I say it. My favorite food is #26 at Casa Las Palmas. Make mine two chicken. When you walk past my house and see a big white dog in my window, that is Dante. I really enjoy working at both libraries because of my co-workers. When you get along with co-workers and laugh, that is a good day.

Jolene

Born and raised in town. I hate change so much I have even lived on the same street my whole life! I absolutely love Thanksgiving more than any other holiday. All the comfort foods with those I love, elastic waist pants, leftovers and I donā€™t even have to leave my house! My grinch heart grows a little more during Christmas when I open any Thanksgiving decoration!

During my free time I enjoy antique shopping. Coming across items I remember my grandparents had, finding well made furniture for our home, or my kids finding a treasure to play with.

My absolute favorite author is Richard Paul Evans. His work is easy to read and the right amount of love. I am currently listening to Colleen Hooverā€™s book Confess and Tempted by My Ex Husband by Piper Rayne.

I enjoy working at the library and meeting so many different people. I love giving and receiving recommendations. Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres now all because of my recommendation from a coworker. I am also the person that will pick up a book just because I like the cover. I walked by the cover of Shamed by Linda Castillo for a couple months before I gave in and read my first mystery. Working at the library I have also given and received recommendations that donā€™t have anything to do with books such as great places to eat nearby and fun places to take the kids on vacation.
