Meet the Staff - November 2023
Each month, we will be highlighting different members of our staff so you can get to know us. This month, we'll introduce you to Betsy. Betsy is one of our amazing employees over at our Erie Islands Library on Put-In-Bay.
Betsy
I'm semi-retired at Put in Bay after a 30+ year career in Marketing Research in Columbus, OH. I have 2 grown kids who live elsewhere and occasionally visit. I spend my spare time doing cross stitch, reading and watching TV. I have always loved libraries throughout my life and still have my library card number from Columbus memorized. I only read non-fiction books since I believe that truth is usually stranger than fiction. My husband and I spend our winters traveling, and this year we are taking a Viking Cruise and then spending a few months in the Florida sun. I'm mostly looking forward to visiting the Spanish Riding School in Vienna where the famous Lipizzaner Stallions live.
Currently I'm reading a book written by a man whose entire career was spent as an auctioneer. It's called A Question of Value.
Do you have any collections - I do not. When I left Columbus I did a major de-crappify of my life and got rid of 30 years worth of "stuff". I felt over 100 pounds lighter when I got finished. I do not buy any sort of tchotchkes anymore.
Background noise - I usually have the TV on whilst cross-stitching. I like to play Harry Potter movies since I don't need to pay too much attention to them (I've seen them so many times already).
