Staff Anniversary - August 2023

The library would be nowhere without it's staff. Throughout the year, we'd like to celebrate our amazing staff by recognizing them in their anniversary month. This month marks the anniversary of Lindsay, the director of the libraries. You can find her at the main branch doing everything needed to keep us running smoothly.

Lindsay

job title: Director

favorite part of your job: Working on local history and genealogy reference questions. I don’t often get them, but when I do it’s a fun departure from the day to day administrative work. Sometimes I have to be creative to find the answers. During one of my favorite searches to date, a mother and daughter who were traveling to the area for vacation reached out ahead of their trip to find the address of a house the mother had resided in during her childhood. She couldn’t remember where exactly it was, but thought it was in Marblehead or Danbury Township. I found a newspaper listing of the transfer of the home to the individual’s family and mention of who sold the house. I still couldn’t exactly place the home, but there were descriptions of parties and social events under the previous owner. I reached out to a library trustee who is well versed in Marblehead’s history to see if she had any knowledge of where the home was that was described in the articles. Not only did the trustee know the house, but it turns out that her grandfather was the original owner of the house and the subject of the articles I had found that described the house!

what you're currently reading/watching/listening: I’m re-watching one of my favorites, True Blood. Currently reading Happy Place by Emily Henry. I listen to a podcast called Rooted in Health and Wellness on a regular basis. I am also listening to a variety of artists that will be featured at a music festival I’m attending next month. Some of my favorites on the festival playlist are Brandi Carlile, The Avett Brothers, Brittany Howard, and Fantastic Negrito.
